WABI-TV (Channel 5 in Bangor) reported that registration for the Maine Coastal Cleanup, an annual volunteer-driven initiative to clean debris from Maine’s coastal shores and waterfront communities organized by the Maine Coastal Program, will close on August 21, 2026. The Maine Coastal Cleanup is the Maine's largest statewide volunteer event. WABI highlighted that the cleanup efforts will focus on single-use plastics and microplastics.
